Ball Words

This year, our kindergarten class is going to be reading with "Ball Words"!  

Note: These are the same words as the popcorn words used last year. We have changed to the ball words to organize into smaller groups to help students master a list of ten at a time. 

The ball words are organized into 7 groups of high-frequency words.  Once your child knows the letters of the alphabet, they will begin reading by ball group.  We will send home the entire set of ball words will be sent home to practice as you see fit. My Spelling City will be organized by ball words, for another way for your child to practice their words at home.  

In class, your child will practice reading the 10 words in their ball group. When they feel confident that they know the words in the group, they will be assessed on their recognition and fluency. Once your child has "mastered' all of the words in their ball group, they will become a champof that ball, and will move on to the next set! Additional sets of ball words will be added after your child has mastered the first 7 sets of words!
